Combating militancy and drug problems

The Daily Star published a report on January 7 that the IGP of Bangladesh Police, AKM Shahidul Hoque, said that it was not possible for the police alone to eliminate drugs and militancy. He emphasised on raising mass awareness to tackle these issues. He is right. It is not only the duty of the security forces to combat these problems. The government and NGOs also have a responsibility which they can perform by creating awareness among people about the grave consequences of drugs and militancy.

Every guardian should also take care of their children and engage with them in important issues. Only by educating the citizens can we address longstanding problems like these.
