Lenovo to launch smartphones soon

Device maker Lenovo is set to launch its smartphones in Bangladesh soon. The company's smartphones are widely available globally, but are absent in the local market.

Currently, Lenovo concentrates on personal computers including notebooks and tablets in Bangladesh.

There is huge demand for smartphones in Bangladesh, Amar Babu, managing director of Lenovo India, said at a media briefing at Ruposhi Bangla Hotel in Dhaka.

The company has inaugurated 15 products in Dhaka this week, most of which were globally launched in the past month. The company has around 50 computer products, including notebooks, thinkpads, tablets, and smartphones, he said.

Babu inaugurated an exclusive outlet of the company at Multiplan Centre on Elephant Road.

Globally, around 300 million smartphones are sold every quarter, while the sales of personal computers or tablets stand much lower, he said referring to a survey.

Lenovo is a $39 billion personal technology company, the largest PC company in the world serving customers in more than 160 countries.

The company, dedicated to building exceptionally engineered PCs and mobile internet devices, was formed by Lenovo Group's acquisition of the former IBM personal computing division.
