Woman gets life term for killing one-and-half-year-old step-daughter

A Pirojpur court today sentenced a woman to life term imprisonment for killing her step-daughter.

Pirojpur District Sessions Judge's Court Judge Md Mohiduzzaman Saja passed the order in presence of the accused, Moni Begum (25), our local correspondent reports. The court also fined Moni Tk 5,000.

According to court sources, one-and-half-year-old Jhumur went missing on December 1, 2017. After failing to find his daughter, Jahidul Islam Sheikh filed an abduction case with Pirojpur Sadar Police Station against some unidentified people.

Jhumur's body was found in a pond near Jahidul's house two days after the incident.

Police later quizzed Moni Begum and she confessed to killing her step daughter, the sources said.
