Policeman sentenced to two years in dowry case

A police constable was sentenced to two years in prison in a dowry case in Pabna today.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Samsul Al Amin pronounced the verdict in presence of the convict -- Sohel Rana, a suspended police constable, our local correspondent reports.

Anwar Hossain, the lawyer of the complainant, said that Sohel demanded Tk 5 lakh from his wife Jaleka Khatun. Jaleka was driven out of her husband's house as she failed to pay the money in 2017, according to the case statement.

The victim filed the case against Sohel with Santhia Police Station.
