A Dhaka court today framed charges against 13 accused in a case filed over murder of Taslima Begum Renu by a mob in the capital's Badda in July 2019.

The accused are: Mohin Uddin, Ibrahim alias Hridoy Mollah, Riya Begum Moyna, Abul Kalam Azad, Kamal Hossain, Md Shahin, Bachchu Mia, Md Bappi, Murad Mia, Sohel Rana, Asadul Islam, Billal Mollah and Md Raju.

Of them, Mohin Uddin, Ibrahim Mollah and Sohel Rana are now in jail while the rest are now on bail.

All the accused pleaded not guilty and demanded justice after Judge Fatima Imrose Khanika of the Sixth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court of Dhaka read the charges to them.

The judge set July 1 for starting trial of the case.

On July 20 of 2019, Renu, a single mother of two, had gone to Badda Uttar-Purba Primary School to enquire about admission in hopes of getting her daughter enrolled.

But a mob beat her brutally to death in front of the school gate, suspecting her to be a child abductor.

Following the incident, Syed Nasir Uddin Titu, Renu's nephew, filed the case against 400 to 500 unidentified attackers with Badda Police Station.
