A Dhaka court today sent two owners of an unauthorised chemical warehouse to jail on completion of their three-day remand in a case filed over the devastating fire that killed six people in old Dhaka's Armanitola on April 23.

The accused are: Mostafizur Rahman and Mohammad Mostafa.

Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury passed the order after Mir Rezaul Islam, an inspector of Bangshal Police Station and also the investigation officer of the case, produced them before his court on completion of their three-day remand in the case.

In today's forwarding report, the IO said the duo admitted that they had stored chemicals and flammable goods at their warehouse in Haji Musa Mansion even though they did not have any permission. So, the IO appealed to the court to confine them in jail until the investigation is completed.

On the other hand, defence for Mostafizur Rahman, submitted a bail petition for hearing on May 3 while Mohammad Mostafa did not submit any bail petition in the case.

After hearing both the sides, the magistrate sent them to Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj.

Mostafizur Rahman was arrested from Nandigram of Bogura, while Mohammad Mostafa from the capital's Uttara on April 27.

Later, they were placed on a three-day remand each after being produced before another Dhaka court.

Both of them are the FIR-named accused in the case filed by Bangshal police against eight named and 15 to 20 unnamed people.
