The investigation officer in the murder case of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) student Abrar Fahad has started giving his deposition before a Dhaka tribunal.

Md Wahiduzzaman, an inspector of detective branch of police and also the investigation officer of the case, gave his statement before the tribunal today.

Judge Abu Zafar Md Kamruzzaman of Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 of Dhaka recorded the statement of Wahiduzzaman, the last prosecution witness in the case, for over three hours.

Since the investigation officer could not complete his deposition, the judge fixed tomorrow for next hearing of the case. During today's hearing, the twenty-two accused who are now in jail, were produced before the tribunal.

Earlier the tribunal recorded statements of 45 prosecution witnesses including complainant of the case.

The tribunal framed charges against 25 accused on September 15 last year.

Abrar, a second-year student of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department of Buet, died after he was brutally beaten -- allegedly by some Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) men -- at Sher-e-Bangla hall of the university in the early hours of October 7, 2019.

Later, his father filed a case with Chawkbazar Police Station against 19 BCL leaders of Buet unit.
