16th Annual Human Rights Summit held

16th Annual Human Rights Summit was held in New York, USA on 27th to 29th June 2019. The Summit was organised by Youth for Human Rights International (YHRI), a non-profit organisation founded in 2001. From Bangladesh, Kazi Tamanna Ferdush, an Advocate of Bangladesh Supreme Court and Human Rights activist, represented Youth for Human Rights International, (YHRI) Bangladesh Chapter. She talked about rampant gender-based crimes taking place across the country.

Prominent speakers including Ambassador Reuben Armando Escalante Hasbun of El Salvador, Deputy Permanent Representative of Sierra Leone Victoria M. Sulimani, His Excellency Ireneo Omositsion Namboka of Uganda, Chairman of the 400 Years of African-American History Commission Dr. Joseph L. Green, and Ambassador of Goodwill to Africa and Community Mayor of Harlem Queen Mother Dr. Delois Blakely spoke at the summit. On the final day, the multicultural celebration for the Summit was hosted at the Church of Scientology of Harlem Community Center. A workshop was organised for the delegates on human rights education.
