BLLSA's "Express Logically Mooting Workshop 2017" held at LCLS-South
With an aim to facilitate the argumentative skill, sophisticated knowledge and leadership ability of law students, Bangladesh Lawyers’ & Law Students’ Association (BLLSA) organised a two-day long mooting workshop titled "Express Logically Mooting Workshop 2017" in collaboration with London College of Legal Studies (LCLS) (South) on 13th and 14th October at the Kalabagan campus of LCLS.
On the first day, Advocate Manzur Al Matin, Mohammed Fakhruddin Bhuiyan, Barrister Asif Bin Anwar and Barrister Ridi Rubaiyat spoke at the occasion as the trainers. Topics covered then include the understanding of mooting in Bangladesh, the significance of research in mooting, the presentation of arguments in mock trial and the court room etiquette.
On the last day, the workshop covered the topics such as analysis of a sample moot problem, opportunities to participate in mooting and challenges of developing a mooting culture in Bangladesh. Among others, Barrister Osman Bin Nasim, Barrister Suhan Khan and Advocate Md. Shahadat Hossain, Assistant Director (Law) at Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) delivered lectures and shared experiences with the participants.
The workshop was concluded with the certificate giving ceremony in which Justice Dr. Md. Abu Tariq, the Honorable Judge at the High Court Division, Supreme Court of Bangladesh, was present as the chief guest. The special guests included Barrister Khaled Hamid Chowdhury, Advocate Rashel Siddiqui, Advocate Sameer Sattar and Barrister Masum. The Honorable Justice shared his experiences at the Bench and encouraged the young law students for their future professional life.
The workshop was attended by law students from around 40 universities (including both public and private ones) and 10 law colleges. The event was co-ordinated by some BLLSA members namely, Akib Mahmud (Jahangirnagar University), Abdullah Bin Masud (Jahangirnagar University), Nafisa Talukder (Daffodil International University) and Tanjimul Islam (University of Information Technology and Sciences).
