Kushtia AL man killed in clash with Jubo League

An Awami League man was killed and eight others were injured in a clash with the activists of Jubo League, youth front of the AL, in Mirpur upazila of Kushtia this evening.

The deceased was identified as Nuru Islam, 50, of Poradah village in the upazila, reports our Kushtia correspondent.

The clash ensued around 6:00pm between the local activists of AL and Jubo League at the village, leaving nine people injured, said Kazi Jalal Uddin, officer-in-charge of Mirpur Police Station.

The injured were rushed to Kushtia Medical College and Hospital where Nuru died around 9:00pm, the police officer added.

The groups had a long rivalry over establishing supremacy in the area, the OC said.
