'Killing' BNP men won't save Hasina: Rizvi

BNP leader Rizvi Ahmed today blamed the Sheikh Hasina government for the alleged "killing" and "disappearance" of BNP men and said Hasina won't be able to "save herself by doing these".

The joint secretary general of the party told reporters at a press briefing that, “The present illegal government is thinking that it would be able to hide all its misdeeds through abduction, forced disappearance and killing of opposition men. All cruel rulers of the world also think so. But they would not be able to save themselves finally."

The briefing, held at BNP's Nayapaltan central office, was organised to counter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Friday’s statement at a press conference that her government will deal any destructive anti-government activities of the opposition with an iron hand.

On the recent proposal of raising gas price, the BNP leader said, “This illegal government’s tenure won’t be smooth if it makes people to suffer by hiking gas prices.”

Pointing to Hasina’s appeal to establish peace in the recently held UNGA summit, Rizvi alleged that she [Hasina] is telling about peace. On the other hand, her government is killing BNP men in cold blood to choke the BNP-led opposition’s fresh anti-government movement scheduled after Eid-ul-Azha.

“Is it an example of her way of establishing peace,” questioned Rizvi.

He also alleged that minister Latif Siddique dared to criticise Hajj and Tabligh Jamaat as the government dropped “Bismillah” and “full faith on Almighty Allah” from the pre-amble of the constitution through 15th amendment.
