‘Khaleda to give directives for anti-govt movement Dec 18’

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will give fresh directives for the anti- government movement during a convention in the capital on December 18.
"The leadership of Ducsu [Dhaka University Central Students Union] of 1990 and the then Chhatra Oikya Parishad will hold a day long convention at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh the same way the organisations held programmes on October 1, 1990 to oust autocratic HM Ershad," said former Ducsu vice-president Amanullah Aman today.
Speaking at a press conference at the Jatiya Press Club, he said the pro-BNP student leaders of 1990 and leaders of the BNP-led 20-party alliance will take oath to oust the government as early as possible as it has become more autocratic than Ershad regime.
Aman, also a joint secretary general of BNP, hoped that they would be successful like in 1990, by waging a tougher anti-government movement.
It is mentionable that the BNP-led 20-party alliance has taken a plan to hold several programmes protesting anniversary of the "one-sided" January 5 polls. Though the party did not unveil the programmes, the BNP chief has been discussing with the people of different sectors including teachers, journalists to finalise the programmes.
As part of the planning, BNP has decided to hold a convention with the successful leadership of 1990 to mount pressure upon the government before January, said the party insiders.
