Khaleda terms current parliament club of clowns
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia today termed the current parliament a “club of clowns” as songs, poems and dramas are being performed there instead of discussions taking place on public interest issues.
“No issue relating to public interest is discussed in the present parliament. In fact, it has become a club of clowns,” Khaleda said while speaking at an Iftar programme at a city hotel.
Kazi Zafar Ahmed-led Jatiya Party, a new partner of the BNP-led 20-party alliance, organised the Iftar.
In her brief speech, Khaleda, also head of the opposition alliance, said her party will have no alternative to movement if the government does not sit in talks immediately for holding a fresh election.
“We still want to resolve the crisis and restore peace through talks. But it seems that the government is not sincere about talks,” the BNP chief said.
She said there is no security of the people as killings and enforced dispenses are taking place regularly.
Khaleda urged people to get united for saving the country from the grasp of Awami League government through a strong movement.
Senior leaders of BNP and the 20-party alliance, civil society members and diplomats from different countries among others joined the Iftar.
