Jubo League man killed, bomb attack on AL activist

A Jubo League activist was killed by criminals in Noakhali while an Awami League activist was injured in bomb attack in Chapanawabganj on Sunday and yesterday.
A Jubo League activist was hacked to death by criminals in Banglabazar of Begumganj upazila of Noakhali on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Kamal Hossain, 32, son of Abdul Gofran of Basanterbagh village of the upazila, reports UNB.
Police and family members said, Kamal was returning home on a motorbike in Basanterbagh area around 6:30pm.
A gang, numbering 4-5, suddenly swooped on him. They beat him with sticks and hacked him with sharp weapons indiscriminately, leaving him injured.
They also cut off the tendons of his hands and legs.
Critically injured, Kamal was rushed to Begumganj upazila health complex and later shifted to Noakhali Medical College Hospital (NMCH) where doctors declared him dead.
In Chapainawabganj, an Awami League activist was seriously injured as Jamaat-Shibir men hurled bombs in Shibtala area of the district town yesterday, reports our correspondent.
The injured Awami League activist is Mainul Islam, son of Namu Sardar of Bhogobanpur village under Sadar upazila. He was a former member of Moharajpur union parishad and an activist of AL.
  Jasim Uddin, officer in-charge (OC) of Sadar police station and witnesses said, local AL leaders and activists arranged a reception to Abdul Odud, lawmaker of Chapainawabganj-3 constituency (Sadar) in front of the deputy commissioner's office.
Several hundred AL activists joined there.
After ending the reception programme, Mainul Islam and others were returning to their village home by motorbike.
When they reached Shibtala area at around 12:45pm, a gang hurled five to six bombs on them. One bomb hit Mainul and injured Mainul seriously.
Dr. Shafiqul Islam, Residential Medical Officer (RMO) of Sadar Hospital, said that the bomb hit Mainul's head and other parts of body.
Contacted, Mainul blamed local Jamaat-Shibir men for the attack.
