JS passes Finance Bill 2014

The Finance Bill 2014 was passed in the House today with some changes in tax and customs duties.

Finance Minister AMA Muhith proposed passage of the bill that included the implementation of government's financial proposals and amendments to several laws.

The bill was tabled on June 5 when he also proposed budget for the next fiscal 2014-15 that will come into effect from July 1.

Treasury bench member Md Shahb Uddin, Shahiduzzaman Sarker, independent MP Rustom Ali Farazi, Nurul Islam Milon of Jatiya Party proposed amendments to several provisions of the bill. All proposals, expect one, were rejected in voice votes.

The finance minister placed the Tk 2.50 trillion budget for the fiscal year 2014-15 in the House on June 5.
