Journo Noor Jahan Begum awarded at DU

The mass communication and journalism (MCJ) department at Dhaka University yesterday honoured Noor Jahan Begum, a noted female journalist in the country, for her contribution in the field of journalism.

Under “Abdus Salam Trust Fund” a crest with a cheque for Tk 50,000 were given to Noor, editor of the newspaper Begum, while five MA students of the department were given Tk 15,000 each as financial assistance.

DU Vice-Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique handed over the money to the awardees at a programme held at the auditorium of the new social science's building.

Eminent journalist late ABM Musa set up the trust last year in memory of Abdus Salam, the editor of Daily Bangladesh Observer.

Akhter Sultana, MCJ chairperson, among others was present at the event.
