Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) will observe a daylong hunger strike on March 31 demanding exemplary punishment to the killers of journalist couple Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi.

"We will observe tougher movement if our demand is not meet by this time," DRU president Shahed Chowdhury announced during a memorial organised on the occasion of second death anniversary of the journalist couple.
While addressing the programme at DRU's Sagar-Runi auditorium, Sagar's mother Saleha Munir alleged that the government has delayed the investigation instead of revealing the fact.

"Now, I am sick. Will I be able to see before my death that killers of my son and daughter-in-law punished?" she asked.

She pleaded with journalists to press ahead with the movement to ensure that the motive has been found and the killers awarded exemplary punishment.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) held a human chain demanding trial of Sagar-Runi murder in front of the Jatiya Press Club.
