Jisan gang member held in Laxmipur

An alleged member of notorious 'Jisan gang' was arrested after being injured in a 'gunfight' with the law enforcers at Latifpur village of Chandraganj in Laxmipur district early yesterday.
Bullet-hit Mahiuddin, 35, son of Ali Akber, however, said police raided their house to arrest his elder brother Md Jamal Uddin, senior vice-president of Chandraganj union unit of Jubo Dal, youth front of BNP.
Failing to nab Jamal, police woke me up and shot in the leg, he alleged.
Officer in-charge of Chandraganj Police Station Humayun Kabir, refuting his claim, said following a secret information that the members of Jisan gang were taking position at No-2 Bridge area in Latifpur village, a team of police raided the area at around 2:00am.
Sensing the presence of the police, the criminals started firing at the law enforcers who also opened fire in self defence, ensuing a gun battle.
At one stage, the gang members fled the scene while police caught bullet-hit Mahiuddin from the spot and rushed him to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital.
An LG, three bullets and a motorbike were also seized from the spot.
Mahiuddin was an active member of the Jisan gang, the OC said.  
Ringleader Jisan is wanted in several cases, including for murders, extortion, robbery and abduction, he added.
