JCD, Jubo League men gunned down in Noakhali

3 more bodies found floating in Meghna

Bullet-riddled bodies of a Jubo League man and a ward-level leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal were found in Chatkhil upazila of Noakhali early today.

Meanwhile, three more bodies were found floating in the river Meghna in Hatia upazila of the district, reports our Noakhali correspondent.

Informed by the villagers, Chatkhil police recovered the bodies of Md Akash, 20, convener of Ward No. 1 of Mohammadpur union unit of JCD, the student wing of BNP; and Md Al Amin, 25, a Jubo League supporter, around 10:00am.

Akash was the son of Abdus Sattar of Bhimpur village in the upazila while Amin was the son of Alauddin of the same locality.

Locals found the bodies floating in a pond and a nearby ditch at Pashchim Deliai Bazar while returning from mosque after fazr prayer, reports the correspondent quoting Ibrahim Khalil, officer-in-charge of Chatkhil Police Station.

One of the bodies bore bullet injuries to the chest while another to the throat, the OC said.

In Hatia, police recovered the floating bodies of three unidentified persons at different points of the river Meghna today, Fazle Rabbi, OC of Hatia Police Station.

The bodies, clad in lungis and vests, were recovered between 10:00am and 1:00pm, the OC said.

Informed by locals, the law enforcers recovered the first body from Char Bagula in Char King union.

Later, two more bodies were found at Killar Khal and Bouchar of Char King and Shukh Char unions.
