  • Speaking in the 23rd founding anniversary of East Pakistan Chhatra League at Ramna Green, chief guest Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman says, the people of East Pakistan voted for the practical programmes in the elections. No one, except the Bengalis have the right to change the 6-point demands, he says adding that the polls proved that Bengalis will always continue to live as Bengalis.

Bangabandhu says efforts are  carried out in the past to destroy the culture and tradition of Bengalis. Even at one point writing Bangla letters in Arabic fonts are  tried. We averted such through movement. He says, Bangla literature cannot be thought of without Rabindranath Tagore and poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. He referred to the robbery in Chittagong and Barackpur armouries as valiant sacrifice of the Bengalis.

  • Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman tells the government to prepare for more sacrifice until the rights of the people is earned. On the issue of prospective governance scheme of the country, Bangabandhu says though his party alone is sufficient to implement the policy, he will seek the consent of elected members of West Pakistan. However, he asserts that there will be no compromise over the issue. He says the same rulers are  equally exploiting the poor people of West Pakistan and that he is also working to alleviate the exploited people of that region.
  • Vice Admiral SM Ahsan, governor of East Pakistan, sets off for Rawalpindi. He came back around January 7.
