  • President Yahya Khan leaves Dhaka for Karachi after two-day meeting with Sheikh Mujib. In response to the agenda of talks, the president tells reporters that Awami League chief Sheikh Mujib is soon to become the prime minister of the country. He says he will step aside if Mujib will undertake the responsibility. He adds that soon Mujib will form his government.
  • Report run by Ena says that President Yahya Khan, before leaving Dhaka, says in an interview that he undertook the responsibility country during a bad economic phase and he is going to hand it over to Sheikh Mujib. He says, “since 1968 there has been a lot of ‘besiege and burn’ in the country followed by natural disaster, which is enough to bring the economy on to its knees.” The president says he has no magic wand and no short cut to better the situation.
  • The foundation of under-construction Shaheed Minar is laid by the initiative of Rokeya Hall Chhatri Sangsad. The foundation is laid by Dhaka Universiety Chancellor Justice Abu Sayeed Chowdhury.
