  • Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, chairman of Pakistan People’s Party, says in Karachi that he has postponed his proposed Dhaka tour. He is expected to meet Awami League chief Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Dhaka on January 3. He tells reporters that the visit is cancelled for unavoidable circumstances since he had to visit six electoral constituencies of West Pakistan National Council on January 17. He offers to send Punjab People’s Party’s General Secretary Golam Mostafa Khar to meet Sheikh Mujib. Bhutto could not reach Sheikh Mujib on the phone, and says he had to cancel Khar’s plane ticket.
  • Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman meets five leaders of Kashmir Muslim Council, led by Khaja Sanaullah Shamim, and assures full support to alleviate the problems of Kashmir.
