Jadeja fined over Anderson clash

India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been fined 50% of his match fee following an altercation with England's James Anderson during the first Test.

The International Cricket Council found the 25-year-old guilty of "conduct contrary to the spirit of the game".

Jadeja faced a level two charge after a clash at Trent Bridge and could have been handed a one-Test ban.

Anderson could face a maximum four-Test ban at his hearing on 1 August, for allegedly abusing and pushing Jadeja.

The incident took place on day two of the Test on 10 July, as the teams left the pitch, and bowler Anderson could miss the fourth and fifth Tests if found guilty.

The 31-year-old Lancashire man faces a maximum four-Test ban from the ICC, but will be available for the third Test, which begins on 27 July.

The case will be heard via video conference by judicial commissioner Gordon Lewis on the day after the scheduled conclusion of the third Test at Southampton.

The verdict is due within 48 hours of the hearing.

After the first Test was drawn, the tourists won the second match at Lord's, with India completing the win when Jadeja ran Anderson out with a direct hit.
