It’s never too late to listen to your heart

It’s never too late to listen to your heart

it’s never too late to take a step in the right direction

Today is the day when Tareq* lost his father to the eternity, one year back. There are some painful events in our life for which we are not prepared at all. Such was the case of sad demise of Tareq's father at an age of 55. Theirs was a happy family with two brothers. Tareq just got admitted in a Medical College and the whole family was looking forward to get a doctor in the family within next couple of years.

Tareq's father Mr. Alauddin Ahmed, a senior Bank Official, was apparently healthy though he did have strong family history of heart disease and diabetes. Like most he was having an usual sedentary lifestyle of no exercise, irregular medical check up, irregular medication as required and so on.

However, life was going on. Sometimes Mr. Alauddin used to have episodes of dry cough which got cured following some course of cough syrup and antibiotics. Last year he got this cold bouts like previous years to which the family members didn't pay much attention. Suddenly one morning, Mr. Alauddin started having severe chest pain from early dawn and he succumbed to death within few minutes; he was brought dead to the hospital.

Mr. Alauddin died of massive heart attack, which was an eventual happening as he was totally unaware of the diseases brewing in his system! Tareq, this young medical student saw his father die in front of his eyes before he could fulfill his dream by becoming a doctor.

Don’t you find Tareq’s life story to be one of your own? Not only Mr. Alauddin, many of us ignore these early signs of heart diseases which may end up with heart attack from where some will return while some will end up in fatality.

The good news is that heart disease is largely preventable. For those who are at risk of heart disease for example those with a high BP or high blood cholesterol or diabetes or a family history of heart disease, should consult Cardiologists in a hospital of International Standard to avail Preventive Cardiology Management. Cardiologists will do Health Screening for any underlying disease and will guide you towards appropriate lifestyle measures, required medication and routine medical check up. If these are undertaken early enough, you may never need to undergo a cardiac intervention procedure.

Take care of your heart before it's too late! Your body is the only place where you will truly ever live; be wise enough to keep it in good health.
