Inspector General of Police Benazir Ahmed today asked officers-in-charge (OCs) across the country to inform him directly if any superior officer demands a bribe from them.

"I will look into those officers personally," he said.

The police chief made the remarks while addressing a video conference attended by the OCs of 660 police stations across the country today.

He asked his force to maintain their livelihood within their income.

"At present, the life of a government employee can be run smoothly with salary and other benefits. Their expenditure must be limited to legal income," Benazir said.

"Quit your job if you have the intention to get rich through corruption," he added.

Benazir said police have earned immense public trust and respect for their works amid Covid-19 crisis and asked his force members to uphold the spirit of serving people in future and to come out against the oppression of the common people.

The IGP also expressed his condolence over the death of 47 police personnel who died of Covid-19 while discharging their duties.
