Inflation falls slightly in April

The overall inflation rate has dropped by 0.06 percentage point to 7.46 percent in April, thanks to the price fall of both food and non-food items.

The inflation rate was 7.48 percent in March.

Inflation rate on food items decreased by 0.01 percentage point to 8.95 percent in April, which was 8.96 percent in the previous month.

On non-food items, inflation rate dropped by 0.03 percentage point to 5.23 percent last month from 5.26 percent in the month of March, according to data from the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).

The overall inflation has decreased as there was no gap between the supply and demand, BBS Director General Golam Mostafa Kamal told reporters at his office today while releasing the data.
