Indian voters complain of malfunctioning EVMs

Complaints about malfunctioning EVMs were reported from several places of Delhi today as voting in the sixth and penultimate phase of Indian parliamentary elections is underway. 

Voters in a number of localities claimed Electronic Voting Machines were initially not working in the morning, reports our New Delhi correspondent.

Delhi's ruling Aam Aadmi Party' legislator Somnath Bharti alleged EVMs at three booths in Malviya Nagar locality in South Delhi were not functioning, the correspondent reports.

However, there was no immediate reaction from the chief electoral office of Delhi.

Mudit Agarwal, son of Congress' Chandni Chowk parliamentary poll candidate J P Agarwal, alleged malfunctioning of EVMs at some booths in some areas.

AAP's legislator Jarnail Singh alleged EVMs at a polling booth ere not working in the morning in his locality in West Delhi.

Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot said voters were unable to find their votes at polling booths in his Najafgarh area. 

Over 1.43 crore people in Delhi are eligible to vote in this election which will decide the fate of 164 candidates, of which 18 are women.
