Two alleged members of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) were arrested by police in India's Uttar Pradesh, the state's top police official said today.

The two men arrested by the Uttar Pradesh's Anti-Terror Squad were identified as Shahnawaz Ahmad Teli of Kulgam and Aquib Ahmad Malik of Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir state, Director General of Police OP Singh told reporters in Lucknow.

The duo was involved in recruiting members for the JeM, our New Delhi correspondent reports.

Asked whether the two men were involved in the February 14 Pulwama terror attack, Singh said "it's difficult to say whether they came here before the Pulwama attack or after that. The probe is on."

The attack in Pulwama on February 14 left 40 Indian paramilitary personnel dead in the single most deadly assault in Jammu and Kashmir.
