Indian government has sent a note verbal to Bangladesh seeking details about Nur Hossain, the prime accused in seven murders including Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam.

State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Khan told this to reporters at his secretariat office today.

Awami League leader Nur Hossain and his two associates -- Zahidul Zaman and Salim -- were arrested by Kolkata police on Saturday night. The next day, a court placed each of the three men on an eight-day remand.

Nur Hossain stands accused of the gruesome abduction and killing of seven people including Nazrul and senior lawyer Chandan Sarkar.

The seven were abducted on April 27 in the city.  Six bodies were spotted floating in the Shitalakkhya river on April 30. The seventh surfaced the next day.

Hossain could be the first Bangladeshi to be deported since the signing of an extradition treaty between India and Bangladesh last year, according to home ministry sources.
