India eases system for Bangladeshi visa seekers

Amid suffering of Bangladeshi visa seekers, India today announced exemption of online ‘appointment date’ system for processing visa applications of all categories, except tourists visas, with effect from February 1.

According to a press release of the High Commission of India, the applications will be accepted in all categories of visas except tourists on a “walk-in basis” without an ‘appointment date’ at the Indian Visa Application Centres (IVAC) at Gulshan, Motijheel and Dhanmondi in Dhaka and IVAC, Khulna.

The 10 categories are: business, medical, medical attendant, students, research, journalists, conference, employment, transit, artists, sportspersons, spouses of Indian nationals, spouses of business persons, private sector ITEC Trainees, family members of persons attending government of India sponsored training and foreign nationals.

For tourist visas), existing procedures as described on http://www.ivacbd.com will continue to remain valid. 

Tourist visa applicants will continue to require an online appointment date for submission of their applications, said the press release.
