A passenger suffered splinter injuries as miscreants hurled a crude bomb at a bus in Mohammadpur area of Dhaka early today on the third day of the BNP-led 20-party alliance’s 72-hour nationwide hartal.

Injured passenger Aminul Islam received treatment from Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said Mozammel Haque, in-charge of DMCH police camp.

The attack took place in Lohargate area around 5:30am when Aminul, who reached Gabtoli bus terminal from Gaibandha early morning, was going to his destination.

The alliance is observing the strike from 6:00am Sunday protesting against the alleged killings, tortures and arrests of alliance activists.

Vehicular movement remains normal like other days in Dhaka. A good number of private car owners have dared to come out to the city roads defying today’s hartal.

Commuters were seen waiting for buses to go to their offices and other destinations in the morning like any other normal day.

Only long distance buses have not left terminals for destinations from Dhaka to other districts of the country during the hartal hours.

The fresh shutdown was announced less than a day after the 5-day hartal by the anti-government alliance passed off on Thursday.
