Child artistes of Nalanda, the creative school of cultural organisation Chhayanaut, performed in a programme marking pioneer cultural activist Waheedul Haq's birth anniversary.
The event, held at the main auditorium of Chhayanaut on March 16, featured recitation, rendition of songs, dance presentations and staging of two plays. The programme began with rendition of a choral song “Tumi Nirmal Koro Mongol Korey.” The artistes also performed several other choruses including “Keu Nayon Mudey Dekhey Alo”, “Ekbar Gaal Bhora Ma Daak-e”, “Durgamgiri Kantar Moru” and “Manush Ho.”
Several artistes danced to the songs “Nacho To Dekhi”, “Dui Haat-e Kaler Mondira” and an indigenous song. Nalanda students also recited poems, rhymes and stories coupled with staging selected parts of two plays “Sojon Badiar Ghat” (written by Pallikabi Jasimuddin) and “Raktokarabi” (written by playwright Munier Chowdhury) at the event.
A slide show on Nalanda was screened at the programme. The children also advanced their thoughts on history, science, mathematics, geometry and their fond childhood memories. Chhayanaut's initiative of founding Nalanda aims to create a patriotic as well as an enlightened next generation.
