Writ petition seeks HC directive to stop use of Tiktok, Bigo, Likee

A Supreme Court lawyer today filed a writ petition with the High Court, seeking its directives on the authorities concerned to stop operations of mobile phone apps -- Bigo Live, Tiktok video and Likee -- in order to "protect youths from social degradation".

Lawyer Md JR Khan Robin submitted the writ petition as a public interest litigation to the HC, also praying to the court to issue a rule asking the authorities to explain why their inaction to stop the use of these apps should not be declared illegal.

In the petition, he said that the youths of the country are addicted to these mobile phone apps and are losing moral and social values.

JR Khan Robin told The Daily Star that he will move the writ petition before the HC after the court reopens on January 3 after ongoing annual vacation.
