Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) has said that they are yet to know the reason behind the deaths of two Brahmanbaria siblings as police are still investigating the incident.

However, they have found no harmful ingredient in other Napa syrup samples -- of the same batch number -- collected from Maa Pharmacy in Brahmanbaria.

"Based on our lab test result of eight Napa syrup samples, under three different batches, we have found no harmful ingredient. So we can't say Napa syrup is harmful. But we are waiting for police's investigation report to know the reason behind the deaths," Major General Mohammad Yousuf, director general of DGDA, told reporters at a press conference at his office this afternoon.

The drug administration tested the samples after the deaths of two siblings -- Yasin Khan (7) and Morsalin Khan (5) -- on Thursday night (March 10, 2022) in Durgapur union of Brahmanbaria's Ashuganj upazila.

Family members alleged the children fall sick and died after having Napa syrup.
