2 rice wholesalers in Savar fined for charging more than market price

A mobile court in a drive in Savar today (June 2, 2022) fined two rice wholesale shops for charging curtomers more than the market price.

The mobile court led by Savar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md Nahidur Rahman counducted the drive this afternoon at the largest wholesale rice market in Savar, reports our local correspondent.

At the time, the court also warned the shopkeepers and asked them to keep the prices of the daily essentials stable at the market.

Meanwhile, most shopkeepers fled locking their shops after hearing the news of the raid.

During the drive, two wholesale shops -- Noor Traders and AL Amin Traders -- were fined Tk 10,000 and Tk 20,000 for not having licences and charging customers more than the market price.

The drive was launched to keep price of daily essentials, including rice, stable.
