Dengue: One dead, 184 hospitalised in 24 hours

One more dengue patient died while 184 were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8am today, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

One hundred and fifty-one patients were diagnosed with the disease outside Dhaka during the same period while 33 are from the capital.

With the new cases, a total of 4,857 were diagnosed during the current month out of a total 23,054 infected this year. Of the total infected, 3,290 are from outside Dhaka.

According to DGHS, 89 people have died of dengue infection in the country this year. Twelve people died in July while 34 have died in August, 23 in September and 15 in October so far.

Among the deaths, 82 have died in Dhaka division.

Though most of the patients who were hospitalised have so far been released, 864 are still undergoing treatment at hospitals in Dhaka, and 153 outside the capital, the DGHS data shows.
