Dengue fever: 74 patients hospitalised in 24 hours

Seventy-four dengue patients were hospitalised in the last 24 hours till 8:00 am today, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of them, 13 are outside of Dhaka.

With the new cases, a total of 3,423 were diagnosed during the running month out of the 27,078 infected this year. Of the total infected, only 4,166 are from outside the capital.

At least 5,458 patients were hospitalised in October, 7,841 September, 7,698 in August, 2,286 in July, 272 in June while 43 were infected in May and the rest are from January to April, according to the DGHS.

So far 98 people have died of dengue infection in the country this year. Of them, Twelve people died in July while 34 have died in August, 23 in September, 22 in October and seven in November so far.

Among the deaths, 90 have died in the Dhaka division, two each in Chattogram, Khulna and Mymensingh divisions and one each in Rajshahi and Barishal divisions.

Though most of the patients who were hospitalised have so far been released, 402 are still undergoing treatment at hospitals in Dhaka, and 109 outside the capital, the DGHS data showed.
