Dengue fever: 203 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 203 patients were hospitalised in the last 24 hours till 8:00 am today, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of them, 33 patients are outside of Dhaka.

With the new cases, a total of 1,139 people has been diagnosed in the current month out of the total 19,336 infected this year.

Of the total infected, 2,527 patients are from outside of Dhaka.

At least 7,841 were hospitalised in September, 7,698 were in August, 2,286 patients in July, 272 in June while 43 were infected in May and the rest are from January to April, according to DGHS.

A total of 73 people have died of dengue infection in the country this year.

Twelve people died in July while 34 have died in August and 23 in September and four in October so far.

Among the deaths, 68 died in the Dhaka division, two in Chattogram and Khulna and one in Rajshahi division.

Though most of the patients who were hospitalised have so far been released, 863 are still undergoing treatment at hospitals in Dhaka, and 143 outside the capital, the DGHS data showed.
