Dengue fever: 140 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 140 patients were hospitalised in the last 24 hours till 8:00am today, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of them, 30 are outside of Dhaka.

With the new cases, a total of 2,119 were diagnosed during the running month out of a total 25,774 infected. 

Of the total infected, 3,889 are from outside Dhaka.

At least 5,458 patients were hospitalised in October, 7,841 in September, 7,698  in August, 2,286 in July, 272 in June while 43 were infected in May and rest are from January to April, according to the DGHS.

Till date, 97 people have died of dengue infection in the country this year.

Twelve people died in July while 34 have died in August and 23 in September, 22 in October and six in November so far.

Among the deaths, 89 have died in Dhaka division, two each in Chattogram, Khulna and Mymensingh divisions and one each in Rajshahi and Barishal divisions.

Though most of the patients who were hospitalised have so far been released, 626 are still undergoing treatment at hospitals in Dhaka, and 128 outside the capital, the DGHS data shows.
