Covid-19 death toll crosses 17,000-mark

210 dead, 12,383 infected in 24 hours

Two hundred and ten people have died from Covid-19 in 24 hours (till 8am today), according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

With them, the total number of deaths reached 17,052 and the death rate stands at 1.61 percent.

At least 12,383 new infections were recorded in the meantime, taking the total number of people infected to 10,59,538, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 29.14 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 14.92 percent.

A total of 42,490 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8am today).

At least 8,245 Covid-19 patients have recovered in this period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 8,97,412 and the recovery rate at 84.70 percent.

Among the 210 deceased, 131 were men and 79 women. Of them one was between 11-20 years old, seven 21-30 years old, 14 were within 31-40; 29 between 41-50; 52 within 51-60 and 107 were above 60 years old, added the release.
