2 million Sinovac, AstraZeneca doses arrive in Dhaka

One million jabs of Covid-19 vaccines produced by Sinovac Life Sciences Co Ltd arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital today.

This is the fifth consignment of Covid-19 vaccines sent by the Chinese government as gift, said a public post on the official Facebook page of Chinese Embassy in Dhaka.

The previous four batches of gifted Chinese Sinopharm vaccines arrived in May, June, and August.

In the battle against coronavirus, China and Bangladesh have always been standing together, supporting and assisting each other in times of difficulties and challenges, vividly illustrating the profound friendship between the two countries, read the Facebook post.

Meanwhile, one million doses of AstraZeneca vaccines have also reached Dhaka today from Netherlands, under the COVAX facility, said Maidul Islam, Senior Information Officer of the Health Ministry.

Besides, 55 lakh shots of Sinopharm vaccines from China will reach Bangladesh around 11:00pm on October 21, the official added.
