A total of 2.45 lakh AstraZeneca vaccines will be arriving in Bangladesh from Japan tomorrow.

The vaccine doses are part of 2.9 million doses that Japan is supplying to Bangladesh under Covax facility, a foreign ministry official said.

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen will be receiving the consignment, which will be carried by Cathay Pacific Airways and is scheduled to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 3:00pm.

The arrival of the AstraZeneca jabs will be a relief for around 15 lakh people who got their first dose but have been waiting for the second dose since April as India had halted exporting AstraZeneca doses in March after the Serum Institute of India had supplied only seven million of the earlier agreed upon 30 million vaccines.
