Sylhet division sees highest single-day Covid-19 infection

A total of 802 new Covid-19 cases and 17 deaths were recorded in Sylhet division in 24 hours till this morning, breaking previous records of infections.

Before this, the highest number of infections in a day was 736 which was recorded on Wednesday, and the highest deaths of 17 was also recorded that day.

A total of 1,833 samples were tested. The infection rate in the division stands at 43.75 percent.

Sylhet Divisional Director of Health, Dr Himangshu Lal Roy, confirmed the information in the daily Covid-19 divisional statistical report.

Till this morning, 402 people were admitted at various hospitals in the division. Among them, 273 are in Sylhet, 69 in Sunamganj, 29 in Habiganj and 31 in Moulvibazar.

The infection rate is 60.66 percent in Sylhet, 34.97 percent in Sunamganj, 31.68 percent in Habiganj and 40.49 percent in Moulvibazar.

A total of 39,116 people have been infected with Covid-19 in the division so far while 30,320 people have recovered and 684 have died till today.
