Covid surge: 15,527 cases reported in 24 hours, 17 dead

At least 15,527 new infections were recorded and 17 people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8:00 am today, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The current positivity rate is 31.64 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 14.12 percent.

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 28,273 and the mortality rate stands at 1.63 percent. Meanwhile, the total number of cases rose to 17,31,524, added the release.

A total of 49,073 samples were tested across the country in the 24 hours.

At least 1,052 patients have recovered from Covid-19 during the period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,60,006 and the recovery rate at 90.09 percent, added the release.

Of the 17 deceased, 13 were male and four female. Of them, one was between 11-20 years old, two were within 41-50 years old, three were between 51-60, five were within 61-70, two were within 71-80, one was between 81-90, and three were within 91-100 years old, added the release.
