48 Covid-19 deaths recorded in 24 hours, positivity rate now 7%

Forty-eight people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8am today, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 26,880 and the death rate stands at 1.76 percent.

A total of 18,869 samples were tested across the country and at least 1,327 new infections were recorded in this period, taking the total number of people infected to 1,528,542 added the release.

The current positivity rate is 7.03 percent while the overall positivity rate stands at 16.58 percent.

At least 3,168 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 1,475,235 and the recovery rate is 96.51 percent. 

Among the 48 deceased, 22 were men and 26 were women.

Of them, one was between 31-40 years, four between 41-50, 13 between 51-60, 17 between 61-70, nine between 71-80 and three between 81-90, and one between 91-100 years old, added the release.
