Number of Covid cases in 24hrs shoots up; 4 dead, 674 infected

Four people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8am today, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 28,081 and the mortality rate stands at 1.77 percent.

At least 674 new infections were recorded during the period, taking the total number of people infected to 15,87,140, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 3.37 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.75 percent.

A total of 19,980 samples were tested across the country in the 24 hours.

At least 214 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,49,771 and the recovery rate at 97.65 percent.

Of the four deceased, one was male and three females. One was within 61-70, one was between 71-80, and two were between 81-90 years old, added the release.
