18 die in Covid unit of RMCH

Eighteen people died while undergoing treatment at the Covid unit of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital during 24 hours till 8am today.

Of them, six had tested positive for coronavirus infection while the others were suffering from symptoms, said Brig Gen Shamim Yazdani, the hospital's director.

Six of them were from Rajshahi, three from Natore, seven from Pabna, one from Kushtia and another was from Meherpur, he added.

Meanwhile, 282 samples were tested at the RT-PCR lab of RMCH, of which 75 were positive for coronavirus infection.

In the lab of the medical college, 463 samples were tested and 84 came positive.

The current positivity rate of Rajshahi district is 22.75 percent.
