17 die at RMCH Covid unit in 24 hours; positivity rate 23.71% in Rajshahi

Seventeen people – nine male and eight female -- died at the Covid unit of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) in 24 hours till 8am today.

Of the deceased, six were Covid-19 positive and the rest died with symptoms, our Rajshahi staff correspondent reports quoting RMCH Director Brig Gen Shamim Yazdani.

Five of them were from Rajshahi, four from Natore, three each from Chapainawabganj and Pabna and one each from Naogaon and Kushtia.

During 24 hours, 94 samples were tested at RMCH lab through RT-PCR testing and 33 of them came positive while 282 were tested at Rajshahi Medical College lab and 45 of them were Covid-19 positive, Brig Gen Yazdani said.

The current positivity rate in the district is 23.71 percent.

A total of 39 people was admitted to the coronavirus unit of RMCH in 24 hours till 8am today. Thirty-six patients left the hospital after recovery during the period. In total, 391 people are undergoing treatment at the unit at present.
