13 more die at 5 Khulna hospital Covid units in 24 hours

Thirteen more patients died while undergoing treatment at Covid units of five Khulna hospitals in 24 hours, till 8 am today.

The hospitals are Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH), Gazi Medical College Hospital, Khulna General Hospital, Shahid Sheikh Abu Naser Specialized Hospital and Khulna City Medical College Hospital.

Dr Suhas Ranjan Halder, resident medical officer and spokesperson of the KMCH Covid unit, said that five patients died in 24 hours till this morning. Of them, four were Covid-19 positive, and the other had symptoms.

A total of 136 people were undergoing treatment at KMCH's Covid unit till 8:00 am today. Eighty-seven of them were undergoing treatment in the red zone, 37 in the yellow zone, eight in the high-dependency unit (HDU), and 20 in the intensive care unit (ICU), reports our Khulna correspondent.

Thirty-four new patients were admitted to the unit in 24 hours till this morning, and 58 were discharged from the hospital.

On the other hand, three patients died at Shahid Sheikh Abu Naser Specialized Hospital's Covid unit in the 24 hours, said the unit's spokesperson Dr Prakash Chandra Debnath, adding that 42 patients are receiving treatment there at present.

Three more people died at Khulna City Medical College Hospital, the hospital sources said. 

Dr Kazi Abu Rashed, spokesperson of Khulna General Hospital's Covid unit, said one patient died at the unit in 24 hours while 52 were receiving treatment till this morning.

Gazi Medical College Hospital owner Gazi Mizanur Rahman said one patient died at the hospital's Covid unit during 24 hours till 8 am.
