11 die at Kushtia General Hospital’s Covid unit in 24 hours

Nine people died of Covid-19 and two with Covid-like symptoms in Kushtia in 24 hours till 8am today.

All of the deceased were being treated at the Covid unit of Kushtia General Hospital, reports our local correspondent, quoting Dr Abdul Momen, deputy director of the hospital.

A total of 277 patients were taking treatment at the Covid unit till this morning. However, the unit's capacity is 200 beds.

In the 24 hours till 8 this morning, 590 samples were tested for coronavirus infection, of which 231 came positive. Current positivity rate is 39.15 percent.

So far, 589 people have died from Covid-19 in Kushtia since the outbreak in the country, according to health ministry data.
